How can i turn my thick relaxed hair curly???? help!?

I have thick hair that is relaxed but i want to go curly without cutting it off and going natural...so do i need to get a "curly perm"??? How can i acheive the look i want? (which is kind of the "naturally crimpy/curly look") But i'm afraid that the perm might give me the all too '80s moist jerry curl look..lol

These are two links to the kind of look i'm going for...more so the 1st pic than the 2nd..

honestly, unless that hair texture is already there, it's not really possible to create this look just using a product. going natural and finding a good line of hair products that compliments your natural texture would be the best option. getting a texturizer or wave nouveau (this would be AFTER you let the relaxer grow out, of course) is another option. the downside: it takes SO much time for the relaxer to grow out unless you just cut it low and start from the new growth. the easiest option: a weave or rods. of course the best hair weaving option would be to have the kind of hair you want (which is curly) sewn in. this option will achieve the look and body that you want. it just won't be your hair =) you could also do rods, which is a really cute look. it won't last too long but it will be your hair. like i said, unless your hair is naturally wavy or curly, the curly look is not so easy to achieve without some chemicals or lack thereof.

Straight hair looks much hotter than curly hair. Curly hair looks kind of ditsy.

I have this type of hair and for the life of me I dont know y you would want it?? but have you looked into a product that can strip chemicals from hair? Maybe you can strip the perm out??? or you can wait until the perm "runs" out. you know how you have to re-do it every so many months, well at that time get a curly perm instead. Good luck

well lets see...if you want some good results...i say go to a hair cutting place such as: Cost Cutters or Fantastic Sams...

get your hair thined...and then get a perm...you can find perms in the hair dying isles at stores. One I know of is Toni Silk wave...

you are curly for like 3 months-a year...and wears away...

but you can continue to use the perm stuff...my grandma does.

my friend does a "straw set" where the hair is rolled on drinking straws but it gives her these small curls and they look real good ask a stylist about it

wet your hair, get someone to braid it in twists, then let it air dry or sit under a dryer. once its dry undo the twists and you'll have nice curly hair

Go to your hair salon and ask for a spiral perm. I had one and it was so much fun! Use John Frieda Dream Curls on it to "scrunch" your hair when it is wet. Your hair will not be sticky or crunchy. You can also use other John Frieda products for curly hair and his Frizz Ease. They are great products and make my hair shiny w/o weighing it down.

i think you should wash your hair, then curl them section by section in singlets.. leave them in over night, then when you wake up, untangle them all and put your fingers through them, i love doing this to my hair.

Or you could put curlers in them and leave them in over night too

good luck hun xx

I am a liscensed Cosomotologist if you have relaxed hair then you do need to go natural for awhile before getting a chemical curl if you don't want to take the risk of seriously damaging your hair. another thing you can do is when you wash your hair if it curls up when wet and then straightens when dry like most african american relaxed hair. Then you can use the Wet and Wavy shampoo and styling lotion. Also there is curling moose that you can use

In reference to the pictures for the second look you can braid your hair after washing using setting lotion then take them down when dry and use a little moose to keep frizziness down

My hair is relaxed and for me to get it curly I just wet set my hair with Lotta Body setting lotion and use hair rollers and roll up my entire head, next morning remove the rollers and let the curls just fall. I have a head full of spiral curls. I think the first picture used perm rods.

Honey, have you ever seen a movie or show where a woman has a treatment rinsed off her hair only to see it come out in clumps??? THat is what will happen if you don't go natural first. Your hair is already damaged from the relaxer %26amp; Black hair is extremely delicate. To perm it will fry your ends %26amp;you will not be happy with the results, not to mention, you will still have to grow that out once it's ruined. Do yourself a favor %26amp; take care of your hair.
